The Penny-Wise and Pound-Foolish Life: John's Story
As the old saying goes, "skimping can lead to a penny-wise and pound-foolish existence." For John, this was more than just a phrase – it was a way of life. He had always been frugal, never willing to spend money unnecessarily. And why should he? After all, he grew up during the Great Depression, when every penny counted.
John's skimping habit started early in life. As a child, he would collect empty food containers and reuse them as playthings. He would also roll up his newspaper into tight little balls and use them as makeshift golf balls. His friends thought he was strange, but John didn't care. He was just trying to make the most of what he had.
